Language should never be a barrier to accessing life-saving health information. That's why It’s Good to Know campaign partner, the Australian Multicultural Health Collaborative is supporting 13 community organisations across Australia to deliver lung cancer screening awareness activities for Arabic, Cantonese, Hindi, Mandarin and Vietnamese-speaking communities.

Through community events, information sessions and conversations led in culturally appropriate ways, these organisations are helping more people learn about the National Lung Cancer Screening Program (NLCSP) and understand who may be eligible for free lung cancer screening.

By supporting trusted local organisations to lead these conversations, the campaign is making it easier for communities to ask questions, access information in their language and share what they have learned with family and friends.

Priyanka Rai, Executive Director of the Australian Multicultural Health Collaborative, said trusted community voices play an important role in helping people access and understand health information.

"When health information is shared by trusted community organisations, in people's preferred language and in culturally meaningful ways, it helps build confidence and understanding. These grants are empowering local organisations to start important conversations about lung cancer screening, so more people know what the program is, who is eligible and why finding lung cancer early can make such a difference."

By investing in community-led engagement, the It's Good to Know campaign is helping ensure more Australians can access information about the NLCSP, no matter what language they speak or their cultural background.

Because when it comes to lung cancer screening, it's good to know if you're eligible.
