Torres Strait Islander singer Christine Anu joins It's Good to Know campaign
The Australian icon is urging eligible Australians to get screened for lung cancer.

Iconic singer-songwriter and actress Christine Anu has added her voice to the It’s Good to Know campaign, encouraging eligible Australians to get screened for lung cancer.
A proud Torres Strait Islander woman, Anu joins the campaign to raise awareness of the new National Lung Cancer Screening Program and help reduce barriers to screening, with lung cancer being the leading cause of cancer-related death in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
Anu recently took to social media to share the story of her Aunty, who passed away in 2024 from lung cancer.
“It was devastating to watch,” she said. “None of us knew what was going on until it was too late.”
“That’s why I’m supporting this campaign, encouraging Australians to check their eligibility for lung cancer screening.”
The Program is available to eligible Australians aged 50 to 70 with a history of smoking. Anyone who may be eligible is encouraged to speak to their doctor or healthcare provider, who can confirm eligibility and provide a free low-dose CT request form, to check for early signs of lung cancer.
Screening and early detection save lives. If found early, over 65% of lung cancers can be successfully treated.
“Please don’t wait,” Anu urged. “When it comes to your lung health, it’s good to know.”
