Lung cancer is the most common cancer in our communities. But, when found early, over 65% of lung cancers can be successfully treated.

It’s Good to Know: New campaign to raise awareness of the National Lung Cancer Screening Program  

A new campaign has been launched to raise awareness of the National Lung Cancer Screening Program (NLCSP) and increase participation among eligible Australians aged 50 to 70 years.  

The It’s Good to Know campaign is supported by the Australian Government and delivered in partnership with Cancer Council Victoria, NACCHO, ACON, the Multicultural Health Collaborative and the Royal Flying Doctor Service South Eastern Section and will run across video, radio, social media, digital and outdoor channels nationally.  

With this campaign now launched, it is expected that more patients will be presenting to primary care clinics for information and referral.  

The program offers eligible participants a free low-dose CT scan every 2 years to detect lung cancer early, before symptoms appear.  

Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer-related death. However, when detected early through screening, more than 65% of cases can be successfully treated.  

As a healthcare provider, you play a critical and central role in the delivery of the program. This campaign will help drive those conversations and ensure more Australians can benefit from early detection. For more information about the campaign, visit www.lungcancerscreen.org.au.
