Key messages

  • There’s a new National Lung Cancer Screening Program to help find lung cancer early, even before you feel sick.
  • The scan is simple, safe and free. It could save your life.
  • If lung cancer is found early, it’s easier to treat.
  • In fact, more than 65% of lung cancers can be treated successfully, if picked up early.
  • If you're aged 50 to 70 and have a smoking history, have a yarn with your doctor, nurse or health worker about lung screening.
  • The screening is a low-dose CT scan of your chest. It takes just a few minutes and checks your lungs for early signs of cancer.
  • If you're aged 50 to 70 and have a smoking history, you may be able to have a free scan every two years.
  • Lung screening could mean more time with your family, your mob and your community and more time to do the things you love.
  • It's good to know.
